I usually have strong positive opinions. I love the books of Sharon K. Penman. They are interesting, well written, and historically accurate. I enjoy Elizabeth Chadwick as well. But I like to think that I am open minded and enjoy the works of many authors.
At my book club meeting this last week somehow the name of Philippa Gregory was mentioned. I immediately responded that she was horrid – historically inaccurate. She looks for the sensational rather than the likely truth. How else can you explain that she implies that Anne Boleyn actually had sex with her brother or that Elizabeth Woodville was actually a real eye of newt, tail of bat, cauldron mixing witch.
But I like and respect the opinions of my friend and I started to think that perhaps there was something that I had missed in Philippa Gregory. Maybe I need to take a another look at her books. So – convince me. Why should I read Philippa Gregory?

Let’s face it… You haven’t read a book so You don’t have the right to say anything about her… But yeah You should…
Well, read them for entertainment. Obviously you know the actual history, but its fun to imagine all the different scenarios that could have played out within the history we already know…its just a different perspective…by the way check out Margaret George’s “Autobiography of Henry VIII”…its a very fun book.
